My Team Canada 2026 Roster

Team Canada 2026 Olympics Roster Picks

The NHL and Hockey Canada locked in the core group early, but filling out the rest of the roster required balancing the hot hands of the 2025-26 season with the proven elite.

Here is my final 25-man roster for the 2026 Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy.

The Locks (Already Selected) 🔒

  • Sidney Crosby (PIT)
  • Connor McDavid (EDM)
  • Nathan MacKinnon (COL)
  • Brayden Point (TBL)
  • Sam Reinhart (FLA)
  • Cale Makar (D) (COL)

The Forwards 🏒

This is tough because there are so many great options.

  • Mitch Marner (VGK): One of the world's elite playmakers, he posted 102 points last season and remains a dynamic offensive threat.
  • Mark Scheifele (WPG): He forced his way onto the team with a dominant start to the 2025-26 season, scoring 27 points in his first 19 games.
  • Nick Suzuki (MTL): A reliable 200-foot center coming off an 89-point campaign, he provides essential versatility down the middle.
  • Connor Bedard (CHI): The generational talent has exploded in his third season with 31 points in 21 games, proving he is ready for the Olympic stage.
  • Macklin Celebrini (SJS): Matching Bedard's production with 31 points in 21 games, he brings undeniable skill and youth to the lineup.
  • Brad Marchand (FLA): Though bumped from the "First Six," his big-game pedigree and 51 points last season make him a crucial veteran presence.
  • Brandon Hagel (TBL): A relentless forechecker coming off a 90-point season, he is the perfect engine for a high-skill line.
  • Tom Wilson (WSH): With 11 goals in 21 games this year, he brings a unique blend of scoring touch and physical intimidation that creates space for others.
  • Mark Stone (VGK): When healthy, he is arguably the best defensive winger in hockey and provides elite two-way leadership. At the time of writing he's injured so I may need to swap him wiht someone else.

The Defense 🛡️

  • Devon Toews (COL): His built-in chemistry with Makar and steady defensive play (44 points last year) make him an automatic inclusion.
  • Josh Morrissey (WPG): He has evolved into a true number-one defenseman, dominating with 21 points in 19 games to start the current season.
  • Colton Parayko (STL): His massive frame and reach provide the necessary defensive stability to balance out the roster's offensive aggression.
  • Shea Theodore (VGK): A smooth-skating veteran who transitions the puck efficiently, contributing 12 points in his first 20 games this year.
  • Travis Sanheim (PHI): He offers reliable minutes and mobility on the left side, stabilizing the defensive corps.
  • Thomas Harley (DAL): A dynamic young defender skating beautifully coming off a 50-point breakout season.
  • Noah Dobson (MTL): He brings tremendous offensive upside and puck-moving ability following a solid 39-point campaign.

The Goalies 🥅

Goalies are the biggest question mark for Team Canada, given the tough start of Binnington this season.

  • Logan Thompson (WSH): He has earned the starter's crease with a Vezina-calibre start to the 2025-26 season, posting a 2.00 GAA and .920 SV%.
  • Jordan Binnington (STL): His Stanley Cup pedigree and mental toughness make him the ideal backup for single-elimination pressure.
  • Scott Wedgewood (COL): A reliable veteran presence who has been rock-solid this season with a .913 save percentage.

Notable Mentions

  • Evan Bouchard (EDM): An offensive dynamo left off only because the blueline required more defensive specialists.
  • Zach Hyman (EDM): A 50-goal scorer who was the hardest cut, ultimately squeezed out by the youth movement of Bedard and Celebrini.
  • Sam Bennett (FLA): While having an amazing playoff performance and a great showing at the four nations tournament, with just 7 points in his first 20 games, his offensive production hasn't kept pace with the elite scoring depth of this roster.
  • Anthony Cirelli (TBL): A strong two-way center who almost made this list, but his 12 points in 16 games don't quite match the offensive ceiling of the other centers selected.
  • Seth Jarvis (CAR): Despite a solid start with 10 goals in 20 games, he was squeezed out by the exceptional depth of elite playmakers and goal scorers on the wings.
